Tupungato, Mendoza, Argentina. Our favourite Malbec - juicy fruit and low tannin for immediate enjoyment
Ever popular, prizewinning Malbec that always hits the spot and never disappoints. Good balance of fruit, spice, tannin and oak. Good with any red meat but particularly good a robust ragu or casserole.
The Bousquet family originally arrived from Carcassonne, in the South of France set up shop in Mendoza in 1997. This first 110 hectare parcel is located in the Gualtallary valley in Tupungato, Mendoza at an altitude of 1200 metres (4,000 feet), making it one of the higher altitude vineyards in Mendoza and the world. The cool nights and a near constant breeze emphasise the idyllic climatic/terroir conditions that these vines enjoy. In total, the Bousquet estate comprises 240 hectares of vines, all in Tupungato. The portfolio of wines has been much lauded and decorated including several gold medals in the top London wine competitions.
