10% barrel fermented Begude's entry level Pinot Noir -but there's nothing ordinary about it. We're on our fifth vintage and it never fails to please - fresh and pure (just 10% goes into old barrels) and perfect for warmer weather, served lightly chilled (15degC) with a light summer lunch such as charcuterie, chicken salad or mild cheese. Inviting nose of wild strawberries and cherries. A lovely clean and fresh palate with strawberry, raspberry and cherry flavours. Juicy and ripe with a crisp, long finish. Drink now but it will continue to develop and  improve for 18 months,by which time it will be perfect with the roast chicken or duck maker, James, recommends. Catherine & James Kinglake bought the 29 hectare Domaine Begude in 2003. They identified the region of Limoux as an exciting cool climate area in South of France and have approx 60% Chardonnay , 20% Pinot Noir and 20% “aromatics” of Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Gewurztraminer & Gruner Veltliner. James and winemaker, Laurent Girault, with help from Aussie consultant Ricgard Osborne, which are enjoyed around the world. “The best of these (Limoux) wines represent some of the finest wine value available anywhere. It must be so frustrating for a producer such as James Kinglake of Begude, for instance, who knows that he makes truly fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir yet sees it selling for a fraction of the price of some extremely ordinary burgundies”. Jancis Robinson, MW July 2016
