Organic September seems to have zipped by with hardly a mention of changing seasons or a cabbage on the horizon. For me, things really change at the end of October with half term, Bonfire night and Sausage week (31st Oct-6th Nov) heralding the winter.
As usual the Americans have Donalded us with Halloween but that’s a mere sideshow. We’ve all been chorizo-ed up to the eye balls – to the extent that we forget how great, and multi-purpose, our British bangers really are.
A proper banger (80-85% meat, bread crumbs and seasoning) is a wonderful thing and definitely not just for breakfast. We’ll be featuring them in all their glory in the cafes and butchers counters from 22nd October – 6th November to include half term, Halloween and Bonfire night.
