If we’re lucky. The whole process seems to be taking an unbelievably long time, but we are making some progress. At the beginning of 2022, every builder in the South West seemed to be either building industrial units for home delivery and logistics companies, or ‘rip-downs and rebuilds’ in Dittisham and Salcombe – but there are signs that demand might be getting back to something like normality. The problem remains that, almost before they pick up the phone, building companies are complaining about lack of staff.
Logistics aside, we’re still keen to get the new shop at Staverton built and we’ve got lots of exciting plans for it, which we’ll unfold over the coming year. We’re celebrating our 40th birthday this year and it would be fantastic to at least ‘cut turf’ to celebrate. Needless to say, we’re taking a good hard look at how we can make the new shop and it’s surroundings as energy efficient; customer and nature friendly as we can. We’ll get there, but let’s just hope it’s before the old one falls down.
In the meantime, we’ve given our beloved flagship store at Staverton a bit of love and thanks to customer feedback in our survey last summer, we have changed a few things around to make queuing easier and car parks (a bit) less pot-hole-y!
