Café fun with crafty kids

Our first Family Friday afternoon was a big hit with kids who live near our Yealmpton shop and café, where a bunch of them made some brilliant bird feeders to take home and hang up outside.

Using fat and birdseed, packed into the scraped out shell of oranges, these natural birdfeeders are quick and easy to make and really satisfying. Our young crafters have been watching out for the birds at home – we hope the squirrels haven’t been too enthusiastic!

Our Family Fridays run from 4-5pm and are free for children to take part in. Each week we’ll be running a different natural themed workshop and parents/carers are invited to stay and have a tea or coffee in the café while their kids are busy, or you can take it as an opportunity to do some shopping before the weekend.

Upcoming workshops include flower seed paper (Friday 12th) and painting rocks to look like vegetables (Friday 19th).

On Friday 26th we’ll be trying to make portraits out of fruit and veg – take a look at Giuseppe Arcimboldo’s work! For the younger visitors there will be the option to do some slightly less ambitious potato printing too…

Please do reserve a space for your child as places are limited. Phone 01752 880925 or pop into the shop.
